How Often you Need to Check Your Blood Pressure
|
|
This is very common question that my patients always ask me. Normally teen agers
dont go for their blood pressure check routinely, often they ignore their sickness and dont go to
doctor for blood pressure checkup. If you are not a patient of high blood pressure, you should have
your blood pressure check at very early age of 10-13 atleast. If found normal, then check BP
at 18 years of age. Then at 25 and if you are still normal, in thirties have your BP checked once
after two years. In 40's go for your BP check every year.
If you have positive family history, like your mother or father, uncle, grand
parents etc, had history of high blood pressure then you should check your blood pressure more
frequently.
If you have history of diabetes, you are over weight, smoker, high cholestrol as
well, then you should buy your own BP apparatus and have your BP checked after every two months. It
is better you buy upper arm BP apparatus rather than wrist or finger, as these may give you higher
false readings.
