Amazing Fruits a Diabetic Can Eat or Should Eat
|
|
Diabetes…more diabetes…and still more diabetes! It seems that every other
person has diabetes these days. Due to its spread, more and more people are trying to modify their
lifestyles so that they can be spared from this disease. But what about the people who have got
diabetes…unfortunately, they don’t have a choice but to live with it because it is a permanent
condition. However, by giving up few harmful habits and things, diabetics can live relatively
healthy and happy lives.
But the problem lies in the fact that many patients do not want to leave or
change their pre-diabetes way of life. They are especially resentful of the sacrifices they are
asked to make in their food, particularly for people who have a sweet tooth. These patients need to
be told repeatedly that a diet suitable for them is high in fibre and low fat. Consuming meals rich
in carbohydrates leads to elevated sugar levels and related complications that they certainly don’t
want.
The only consolation for them is that they are given the permission to eat
fruits, certain kinds more than the others. These fruits can be added to their meals so that
diabetics don’t think that the world of taste has been forbidden to them.

Some fruits are more efficient in keeping blood sugar
normal

Three of these fruits are grapefruits, apples and jambuls.
Grapefruit: This fruit has the potential to rein in your
increased blood sugar levels. It also gives you an energy boost when you are fatigued due to low
glucose content in the blood. Red grapefruit, also known as the Hollywood Diet and the Mayo Clinic
Diet, has proven to be effective in controlling sugar level of diabetics.
Apples: It is a well known saying that an apple a day keeps the
doctor away. The person who said this may very well have been a diabetic because this fruit is very
useful for them. Apples and other citrus fruits contain pectin which raises the body’s potential to
convert glucose into energy by improving metabolism and lowering insulin deficiency. Conditions
like heart disease and kidney damage can also be prevented by eating apples composed with vitamin
B1.
Jambuls: This fruit, commonly known as black plum, helps
diabetics by preventing starch from converting into blood glucose. Jambuls contain the potent
ingredients resin, albumen, gallic acid and essential oil that enable a diabetic to manage the
symptoms of high blood sugar level with ease.
